Education is the building block of workforce development and has an important role to play vis-à-vis its application at various levels in the development of a professional. The ECO-III Project, through its Sustainable Building Design Education Enhancement Program, worked to bridge the gap between the demands of the society and the ability of the existing and up-coming professionals to address these demands, with assistance from BEE and in collaboration with a number of premier architectural schools in the country, towards improving the quality of education and its relevance today and in the future.
Objectives
- Analyze the existing state of architectural education in the country vis-à-vis the notions of sustainability and energy efficiency
- Propose measures for enhancement of architectural curriculum to promote the design and development of a sustainable built environment
- Forge partnerships with and between architectural schools all over the country to encourage knowledge exchange
- Generate and perpetuate a dialogue to facilitate the exchange between the profession and the academia
