When organizations invest in energy efficiency, they naturally want to know how much they have saved and how long their savings will last. The determination of energy savings is a challenge, and requires both accurate measurement and use of a repeatable methodology. International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol (IPMVP) discusses procedures that, when implemented, allow building owners, energy service companies (ESCOs), and financiers of buildings energy efficiency projects to quantify energy conservation measure (ECM) performance and energy savings.
Objectives
- To build the M&V capabilities of Indian energy efficiency professionals
- To develop India specific M&V knowledge by developing case studies and M&V plans
Accomplishments
- Helped organize the first Efficiency Valuation Organization (EVO) conducted Measurement and Verification (M&V) Awareness Seminar in June 2008 in New Delhi. Subsequently, two more Level-II M&V training workshops were organized in Mumbai and Bangalore in partnership with EVO and AEEE
- Organized a Roundtable on the “Role of M&V in Implementing and Evaluating Energy Efficiency Programs at the National and State Level” on November 13, 2024 in New Delhi in association with AEEE
- Helped organize the first IPMVP Level-III Training and CMVP Examination in November 2009 in partnership with EVO and AEEE. Subsequently, three more Level-III trainings have been completed. There are now a total of 65 CMVPs in India
- Helped organize the first IPMVP Train-the-Trainer (Level-IV) workshop for CMVPs in September 2010 in partnership with EVO and AEEE. Subsequently, one more Level-IV workshop has been completed. There are now five Indian EVO-certified Level-III (CMVP) trainers in India
