Capacity building workshops are aimed at capacity building of academicians involved in the field of building design focused on energy efficiency and sustainability. The intent of the workshops is to help develop a comprehensive knowledge base and skills set in the field of building physics and energy simulation and to develop a network of academicians interested in this field for knowledge sharing.
Objectives
- To develop capacity of professionals/academicians working in the field of built environment on energy efficiency and building physics
- To catalyze the development/evolution of architectural curriculum to incorporate principles of energy efficiency
- To facilitate the implementation of ECBC by developing capacity in next generation professionals
- To facilitate advanced research in the field of built environment
Accomplishments
- Helped organize four APP funded awareness workshops (Indore, Kolkata, Roorkee and Lucknow) and three training workshops (Delhi, Chennai, and Mumbai) on Energy Simulation for practicing architects and building consultants in partnership with CEPT, IIIT, MNIT, and ISHRAE.
- Facilitated organization of three ‘Train-the-Trainer’ workshops at NIASA (Pune), Infosys (Mysore), and BIT Mesra (Ranchi) to provide detailed guidance on the ECBC, building physics, and energy modeling/simulation.
- Facilitated organization of two ‘Building Physics and Energy Simulation’ workshops at IIT Roorkee, Rachana Sansad (Mumbai) and India Habitat Center (Delhi) in partnership with Technical University of Vienna, attended by more then 160 students from all over the country.
- The ‘Train-the-Trainer’ and ‘Building Physics and Energy Simulation’ workshops were attended by a total of more then 100 faculty members from India’s leading architectural and engineering colleges.
- In partnership with REEEP and TUV, conducted a two-day workshop titled ‘Network for Energy Efficiency in the Building Sector – Standards, Education and Information Technology’, with participation from various stakeholders, with the aim of developing a roadmap for capacity building for energy efficiency.
