The ECONirman software is aimed at making it easier for its users to find out if their proposed or existing building meets the compliance requirements as set by the Indian Government in the Energy Conservation Building Code. It is intended as a self-contained tool that would address the building envelope, HVAC, service water heating, and lighting system requirements. The tool would be developed both as a web application and as a desktop application.
The code covers all commercial and multi-family, high-rise residential buildings. Though ECBC compliance is currently voluntary, this may change at a later date. Thus there is a great need for a tool that simplifies the process of checking if a given building is code compliant.
Objectives
- Check code compliance for new buildings using the prescriptive method
- Maintain and enhance the building information database in the form of inputs, drawings, images, etc., for the new construction for easy future access and maintenance
- Provision of the aforementioned database to state designated agencies for country wide survey and data analysis
- Compliance report generation to facilitate checking and approval process leading to better code implementation and
- Enhance ECBC awareness within the various stakeholders with a readily available, easy-to-access and user-friendly web-interface of the tool
Ongoing activities
- Integration of help files within the interface
- Testing of the web-version of the tool
